Description
Ash House is a structure located approximately 5 meters west of the Blackaller Hotel, likely built in the late 18th century. It features granite rubble walls topped with a corbelled conical granite roof, which is slated and covered with cement. The building has a circular plan and is now connected at the north-west side to a later cart shed. In front of the house, granite steps lead up to a high window that has a shutter. To the right of this window, there is a small recess at ground floor level, which may have been a blocked opening for removing ash. Opposite the window, there is a doorway that is now accessed through the adjacent building; this doorway has a granite lintel and includes part of a mill-stone used as the doorstep.
