Description
Bovey Bridge is a road bridge over the River Bovey, with an adjoining subsidiary bridge that may serve as a flood arch. It dates from around the mid-19th century, with some parts rebuilt in the 20th century. The bridge is constructed of granite rubble, featuring dressed stone voussoirs and roughly squared coping stones. The main bridge has a segmental voussoir stone arch, with a parapet that is cranked in the center and has swept-out abutments that connect to the parapets of the secondary bridge. This secondary bridge has much rougher lower parapets and appears to have been particularly rebuilt on the north-west side. On the north-east side of the main bridge, there is a small square opening that allows water from the leat belonging to the Blackaller Hotel to flow through.
