Description
Water Cottages is a house that was originally a pair of cottages from the 18th century, which were improved in the 19th century and converted into a single house in the 20th century. The building features granite rubble walls and a gable end stack, topped with a thatched roof that has gable ends and eaves raised over the first-floor windows. It is likely that the original layout consisted of two one-room plan cottages, although the current plan has been altered. The house is two storeys high with a four-window front. The first-floor window to the left of the centre has been blocked. The early 20th-century two-light wood casements have small panes and timber lintels. The ground floor window to the left of centre was originally a doorway. At the right end, there is a 20th-century plank door with a thatched hood. To the far right, a large granite rubble raking buttress is present. The rear wall features 19th-century windows with brick surrounds. The interior has not been inspected. While it is a modest cottage, it is included for its group value, as it contributes to a pleasant traditional group with the adjoining houses.
