Description
The lych gate and flanking walls east of the Church of St. Winifrid are likely from the 17th century. They are built from large dressed granite blocks and feature a gable-ended slate roof with carved wooden barge-boards. The roof and barge-boards were dated to 1921. The two granite side walls are corbelled out at the top on either side, providing support for the roof. The flanking walls have a hollow chamfered cornice at the coping stones and similar decoration along the edge of the bench at the base, with a return of the chamfer at the left end. A pedestrian gateway has been inserted between the south wall and the lych gate, while the north wall is attached to the gate. There are heavy timber gates from the 20th century for both gateways.
