Description
The Ann Booth monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St Martin, approximately 1.5 metres south of the chancel. It commemorates Ann Booth, the widow of John Booth, who died in 1727, as well as other family members, with an inscription that may date to 1717. The tomb is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth.
On the south side, there is a raised oval inscription panel adorned with a finely carved swag that has rope ties at each corner. The north side has a similar inscription panel and decoration. The ends of the tomb are lyre-shaped, with large hanging bellflower decorations on the sides. The east end has a raised oval boss that shows traces of an inscription, along with a cherub's head flanked by foliate scrollwork. The opposite end has a similar oval panel. The tomb is topped with a thick capping that has a moulded edge.
