Description
No. 8 Barton Street is a former inn dating from the early 18th century, with some changes made in the 19th century. The building features painted brickwork, a tiled roof, and a brick chimney stack. It stands two storeys tall, with an attic and basement, and has two windows on the front. The early hipped dormers are fitted with 2-light small-pane casements, while the first floor has large 12-pane sash windows, which are adorned with brick voussoirs. The ground floor includes plate-glass fixed lights with transom lights, and there is a pavement hatch leading to the cellar. To the left of the entrance is a 6-panel flush door set in a moulded architrave. The building has a plinth, a full-width moulded fascia, and moulded box eaves. A brick stack is located at the rear eaves on the right side. The interior has not been inspected.
