Description

Old Smith's Cottage is a small house located on Castle Street in Winchcombe, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from squared and coursed limestone and features a stone slate roof with a rebuilt stone stack on the right. The cottage is one storey high with an attic and has two windows, including two-light casement dormers and a 20th-century two-light casement window below, which is accompanied by a three-light casement window. There is a late 20th-century glazed door centrally located, all set beneath wood lintels. Additionally, there is a 20th-century door and porch on the opposite side. While it is a modest cottage, it is part of a row that holds social and historical significance to the town, especially given the decline of milling activities in the area. At the time of the survey, it was being used as a holiday cottage.
