Description
21 and 23 Hailes Street are two houses that have been combined into one, dating back to the 16th century. They feature close set vertical stud framing over a rendered ground floor, with a concrete tile roof and brick gable stacks. The building has a wide jettied frame and a steep roof, standing two storeys tall with a three-windowed front. The windows consist of three-light 19th-century casements, with a single horizontal glazing bar, and two additional casements with glazing bars, one having 15 panes and the other 9 panes, located on the left. To the right, there is a hexagonal bay with casements. The entrance, off centre to the right, has a six-panel part-glazed door. The interior has not been seen. This building is a notable example of what was once a typical street building in Winchcombe before the period of significant rebuilding when stone largely replaced timber.
