Description

No. 26, Haw Street is a mid-18th century dwelling. It is built with a rendered and ashlar exterior and has a stone slate roof. The building likely began as two cottages, with an additional return unit featuring a half-hip roofline facing the street, on the right-hand end. A cut stone stack is visible on the right-hand side. The house has two storeys and five bays. It features early sash windows with square panes and broad glazing bars, with a single window on the top floor. A three-light casement window is situated in the right-hand gable, alongside a small, fixed window set low. The front door is a six-panel fielded door, topped with a flat hood without brackets. Nos. 22, 24 and 26 together form an important group of buildings at the beginning of Haw Street.
