Description
Holcombe House and Glendale date from the late 18th century. The front of Holcombe House is stuccoed, with horizontal bands at the first and second floor sill levels. It has a hipped roof of Cotswold stone. The house has three storeys and five windows, featuring glazing bar sash windows. A porch with detached columns and a pediment fronts the house, and it has modern panelled doors. A stone cornice with modillion details and a blocking course runs along the top of the facade. Glendale is a two-storey wing that extends from the rear, also with a Cotswold stone roof.
The ground floor front rooms contain small marble fireplaces; the fireplace in the north-west room has clustered colonnettes and Prince of Wales Feathers carved into the capitals, while the fireplace in the south-west room is likely a replica. The hall has a segmental barrel vault with plaster decoration, and the ante-hall has a higher moulded ceiling. The staircase, dating from around 1780, features patterned cast iron balusters decorated with honeysuckle and harp motifs.
