Description

Culverhay House is a dwelling that was formerly part of Edbrooke House, located in Wotton-under-Edge. It dates back to the 17th century and features a rendered exterior with a concrete tile roof. The building projects as a wing from the back of Edbrooke House, with a gable end facing Culverhay and a porch inserted in the internal angle. It has three storeys, with the gable end displaying a dripstone but no windows. The back elevation is two storeys high and has two windows with sash frames, some of which retain glazing bars. There is a new door in the porch. Inside, there is a newel stair with solid oak treads and a circular newel post that extends through two floors. Although the property is reputed to date from 1598, it has undergone substantial later alterations.
