Description
Edbrooke House is a large dwelling located in Wotton-under-Edge, dating from the mid-18th century. The building is rendered and features ashlared stone with a cornice of stone modillion parapet, although part of it has been replaced. It has a hipped roof covered with concrete tiles and is L-shaped, with a large wing on the right that dates back to the 17th century.
The house has three storeys and three windows on the front. The windows include paired sashes on the left and right, with an arched single sash in the center of the first floor, all featuring glazing bars. The entrance boasts a six-panel door set within a fluted pilaster doorcase, topped with a triglyph frieze and a pediment, all made of wood.
Inside, the property retains 18th-century shutters and an early 19th-century staircase with square balusters and a mahogany handrail. The back wing has a heavy structure supporting a steep roof and includes some later 17th-century panelling.
