Description
The kitchen garden walls and gates, located to the southwest of Stanley Park, were built around the 1860s for SS Marling, who undertook the rebuilding and enlargement of Stanley Park between 1850 and 1870. The walls are constructed from limestone rubble on the outside and brick on the inside, topped with flat stone copings. The layout is rectangular, with the southeast side enclosed by an angled wall that extends towards the road with a lower circuit of wall, creating a small area to the southeast. The gates are ornate, featuring wrought iron and panels that display the initials of various members of the Marling family. The structure is prominently situated, with Bodley's Church of All Saints to the west and Stanley Park, along with its Lodge and Coach House, to the east.
