Description

Nos. 7 and 9, Long Street are a dwelling and shops, likely dating from the 16th or 17th century. The building is constructed with a timber frame, rendered in some areas and finished with ashlar in others. The roof is covered with stone slate on the left gable, and concrete plain tiles elsewhere. A double gable projection rises from the roof ridge, and the right-hand gable projects into the pavement line. The building features two brick stacks.

The building is two storeys high with a three-window facade. It includes a small dormer window, a three-light casement window from the 19th century, and a sash window without glazing bars. There is also a small casement window on the return of the projecting gable. A ledged and battened 19th-century door is topped with a rectangular fanlight containing small panes separated by glazing bars. The ground floor has two shop fronts; one is modern, and the other is a 19th-century design with four lights and a central glazed door.

The interior of No. 9 features a heavy, plain, chamfered beam on the ground floor.
