Description
Brimscombe Port Walls are a Grade II listed structure made of coursed stone with stone coping. The main section of the wall is about 125 meters long and runs along the south bank of the canal at the east entrance to the port, near Bourne Bridge and Lock. There is a small section of wall on the north bank, which also borders the canal and features a doorway with a segmental stone head. Another doorway with a stone head is located on the section of wall just south of the canal, featuring two wrought iron pintles in the left door frame, although the bottom pintle is damaged. This part of the wall appears to have been raised by approximately four courses. Further south, the wall is lower, raised by only two courses, and has ramped coping at one end. The coping stones extend over the top of the wall along its entire length. The wall curves to the west, following a winding path along the River Frome. At the west end, the wall connects to a short return section made of brick and stone with a stone render, ending with a stone pier and capstone that forms part of the entranceway to the former foundry.
