Description
The Ely monument is a pedestal tomb located approximately 4 meters north of the chancel of the Church of St. George in King's Stanley. It was created in 1800 by John Pearce of Frampton and is made of sandstone. The tomb has a square shape with recessed corners and stands on a stepped base. It features a moulded plinth and a fluted frieze, topped with domical coping. Each face of the monument includes a raised oval inscription panel adorned with draped foliage branches. The south side is inscribed in memory of Anthony Ely, who died in 1800.
