Description

Ye Olde Yew Tree is a detached house dating from the late 17th century. The exterior walls are rubble, covered with roughcast render, and feature artificial stone chimneys and a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high with an attic. The front elevation has two gables and a varied arrangement of windows, mostly 19th-century casements. A leaded cross window is located at the right-hand end. The central doorway is topped with a flat timber porch hood, and has a four-panel door. An attached single-storey outbuilding on the left-hand side has an east-facing casement window. The east end of the building is constructed of marl stone rubble, with window openings containing 19th-century casements set within brick segmental arches. A 19th-century attic casement is visible, featuring a timber lintel. The rear of the building was inaccessible during a survey in September 1985. The interior shows few signs of alteration.
