Description
The House at Park Farm is a former barn that has been converted into a detached farmhouse, dating from the 17th or 18th century. It was altered into a house around 1860, likely by Rev. David Edwards of Stancombe Park. The building features random and coursed rubble limestone and marlstone, with red brick dressings and chimneys. The front roof slope is covered with stone slate, while the rear has plain tiles.
It is a two-storey structure with an attic and a continuous single-storey rear outshut. The front of the house has an off-centre gabled projection that was originally a porch, now fitted with 20th-century casement windows. There is brick dentil decoration at the verge of the gable. The fenestration consists of three windows, all 20th-century casements with raised brick surrounds and segmental-arched heads. To the right, there is a flat-roofed porch featuring brick dentils along the horizontal verge and a segmental-arched opening with a raised brick surround.
The house has various blocked slit vents, and to the right of the original porch, there is a small circular window with a brick surround. The chimneys are octagonal and ridge-mounted, arranged in groups of two and three shafts. Each gable end has curious pointed attic openings, with the west end featuring louvres. The rear of the house has similar fenestration, although the ground floor is concealed by the outshut. The 19th-century alterations have given the building a very picturesque appearance. The interior has not been inspected.
