Description
Brook House is a detached house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a stone slate roof. The building features a symmetrical main block with a lower wing to the left and a long return towards the road. It stands three storeys high and has three windows, all of which are 12-pane replacement sashes. The ashlar facing is simply coursed over the openings. The central entrance consists of a 4-panel 19th-century door, with the top panels glazed, set within a simple square-headed porch with pilasters.
The house has gable stacks with moulded capping and skirts, along with a cornice and parapet blocking. The lower unit on the left has a concrete tiled roof and a plain parapet. The return wing is two storeys high and consists of three bays. On the ground floor, there are 19th-century cross-mullioned chamfered casements flanking a central glazed door, all beneath a continuous string course with stopped ends. The first floor features three blocked two-light casements. The roof of this wing is single-pitched, sloping away from the parapet. There is also a flat-roofed extension at the rear of the main building.
