Description
Number 14, known as Collingwood, is the end house in a terrace built in the early to mid-19th century. It features smooth rendering and a hipped slate roof. The building is two storeys high with three sash windows that have glazing bars. The entrance includes a six-panel door topped by a fanlight and glazing bars, all set beneath a boldly projecting stone Tuscan porch. On the garden elevation to the left, there is a French window with a 'pagoda' canopy supported by decorative wrought iron. A new flat-roofed extension has been added.
The garden is enclosed by a stone wall approximately two metres high, topped with flat stone coping. This wall returns to Symm Lane and lowers at the main facade to reveal two ashlar piers with moulded and weathered caps. These piers support spear-head railings on a stone plinth and a gate, and are inscribed with the name 'Collingwood'. Numbers 11 to 14 form a group.
