Description
The building is a former stable located approximately 20 meters west of Daneway House. It dates from the 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. In 1902, it was converted into a workshop for Ernest Gimson and Ernest and Sidney Barnsley. The structure is made of random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. It has a rectangular shape with an inserted loft. On the east side, there are three leaded Tudor arched casements, all appearing to be from the 19th century. The south end has three lancet windows in a parapet gable: one is a medieval 2-light window, while the other two are copies, consisting of another 2-light and a single-light window. There is a doorway with a plank door and timber lintel on the west side. The building also has three gabled roof dormers with small-paned timber casements and ball finials on the gable ends. At the north end, there is a small attached outbuilding that connects to later workshop and garage ranges, which are not of special interest. The roof structure was altered when the loft was inserted to create a drawing office for Gimson and the Barnsleys' furniture workshops.
