Description
A group of three monuments to the Wathen family is located in the churchyard approximately 3 meters north of the nave of the Church of St. George. These mid to late 18th century monuments are made of limestone and feature a brass inscription plate. The group consists of two rectangular pedestal tombs: one has a fluted frieze on the end panels and is inscribed to Elizabeth, the wife of Thomas Wathen; the other has an escutcheon on the ends and south side, inscribed to Phillip Wathen. Additionally, there is a ledger stone with an inscription plate dedicated to John Wathen, who died in 1752. The ledger stone is included to complete the family group.
