Description
No. 61 Southgate Street is a shop and dwelling built in the mid to late 18th century, with 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of brick and has a slate roof, featuring a double-depth block design. The exterior has three storeys, with a 20th-century shop front and a moulded brick crowning cornice, along with a rebuilt parapet above. Each upper floor has two 20th-century window frames set in openings that have rubbed brick flat-arched heads. Although the interior was not inspected, the facade is noted for making a significant contribution to the group of 18th-century properties located in a prominent position at the south end of Southgate Street.
