Description
The Appleby monument is a pedestal tomb located about 8.5 meters south of the porch in the churchyard of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels. It commemorates Nancy Appleby, who died in 1808. The tomb is made of stone and features a flat top with a heavy projecting moulded edge and cyma moulding at the base. The main face panel, which has an inscription, projects slightly and has scalloped corners that contain paterae. The end panels are slightly narrower than the width of the tomb, and there is a further moulded base with a projecting, fielded panel above, capped with a Roman Doric cornice.
