Description
The Giles Monument is a table tomb located about 50 meters east-south-east of the Raven Monument in the churchyard of the Church of St. Lawrence. It commemorates William Giles, who died in 1880, and is made of limestone. The monument features a large moulded plinth supported by four small octagonal piers with moulded bases and carved capitals. It is topped with a large moulded capping that has a diaper-type pattern and a tent top with ridges enhanced by roll mouldings, with each corner ending in a stylized carved leaf. The ends of the chest below the table have three vertical carved panels, with one similar panel flanking recessed side inscription panels. The panel on the north side reads, "Renovated in grateful remembrance by the Cook family 1908."
