Description

The Old Mill has late 17th century origins and was remodelled in the late 19th century. It features an L-plan domestic range on the west side, constructed partly of ashlar and partly of squared rubble, with machine-tile roofs that have coped verges. The building is two storeys high with a gable-lit attic and has ashlar chimneys with moulded capping. The windows are arranged in a 1:1 pattern and include mixed casements. There is a 20th-century doorway with a bracketted concrete hood. To the right (north-west) is a lower set-back angled turret, which serves as the bathroom wing. On the left (south-east) is a lean-to that connects with Mill House, built in the mid-19th century, featuring a slate roof, irregular window arrangement, a small door to the left, and modern garage doors to the right. The garden front facing south-west has been remodelled, likely following an earlier layout, and includes three windows of the mullion and transom type.

The mill ceased operations in the early 20th century, but the mill pool and sluices remain, along with the chute that directed water onto the overshot wheel.
