Description
Lloyds Bank and the former bakery, likely built in the early 18th century, includes an earlier section as indicated by the doorway of the former bakery. The building was altered or restored in the 19th century. It stands two and a half storeys tall, constructed of ashlar quality rubble, with a slate roof featuring coped verges, three chimneys, and three gabled dormers. On the first floor, there are four windows: three are three-light mullion and drip type, and one to the left of centre is a similar two-light window. The ground floor features a four-light king-mullion window on the right, which is linked to a Tudor arch doorway by a drip, raised above the door. To the left of this, there is an early 20th-century shop window. The bank section has an elliptical doorhead with fictive rustic voussoirs, and there is a mid to late 19th-century bay to the left. The building has battened doors, and the former bakery still displays a gilt Hovis sign on the first floor.
