Description

A large farmhouse and adjoining barn, dating from the mid to late 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone with a stone slate roof, featuring two stone end stacks to the tallest section and a brick end stack to the right. The building comprises a single long range set across different levels. The main farmhouse section is centrally located and stands three storeys high, with a later addition to the left, now used as a garage or shed, and a barn to the right.

The farmhouse section mainly has two storeys and an attic. The left-hand section has a gabled dormer with twin casement windows along the eaves. Below, there is a six-pane sash window to the first floor and two three-light casements on the ground floor. The central section features a gabled dormer with twin casement windows along the eaves, a two-light window with a timber lintel on the first floor, and a three-light window to the left on the ground floor. A plank door is set in a wooden surround to the right of this window. The right-hand section contains scattered casement windows, some of which have been renewed.

The barn, located to the far right, has a projecting gabled cart entry with a rendered gable, a large timber lintel, and dressed stone quoins. There are quoins to the right-hand end corner also. A low-level flush entry is partly hidden by a 20th-century lean-to. A pitch hole is visible on the south side. Inside the barn, there are six bays of collar and tie beam trusses. A large stone mounting block, consisting of five steps sloping to one side, sits in front of the house.
