Description

The Smith Monument is a chest tomb located about 6 metres east-south-east of the cross in the churchyard of the Church of the Holy Rood in Ampney Crucis. It commemorates William Smith Jr., who died in 1787. The tomb is made of limestone and features a tent top, a moulded plinth, and capping. It has a fluted frieze with corner rosettes, fielded side panels with flanking carved strips on each side, and plain ends.
