Description
Stanford House is a Grade II* listed building dating from 1705, as indicated by the date inscription over the door. It is constructed of ashlar with a Cotswold stone roof. The house features a plinth and a string course at the first floor, which is interrupted by a door pediment, and has a coved eaves cornice. The building is two storeys tall with an attic, displaying three windows on the ground floor and four above. The windows are stone mullion and transom style with leaded casements, with a four-light window to the left. The central doorway is adorned with a small open pediment and is accessed by steps. The house has coped gables and ashlar stacks with moulded caps and weathering, along with two gabled dormers. Stanford House is recognized as a fine example of a Queen Anne Cotswold house.
