Description
The wall incorporating a dovecote and an open-fronted store is located in the grounds of Great Rissington Manor. It was probably built around 1929 as part of a garden designed by Falconer, Baker and Campbell. The wall is made of limestone rubble and stands approximately 3 meters high. It extends west from the gable end of the north range for about 20 meters, where it features a 4-meter high pier topped with a pagoda-shaped dovecote. The wall then returns north for about 3 meters to connect with the gable end of the open-fronted store. Another wall runs at a right angle from about halfway along the rear wall of the store. The wall linking the north range to the dovecote has flat coping and an opening flanked by square piers next to the gable end of the north range. The corner pier supports the pagoda-shaped dovecote, which has projecting moulded landing platforms and a pyramidal finial topped with a small ball. The other sections of the wall have saddleback coping. The open-fronted store, facing east, has four bays, each divided by a square stone-built pier.
