Description
Dragon House, also known as Campden Bookshop and Green Dragon, was remodelled in 1690. It features an ashlar front set on a chamfered plinth and has a Cotswold stone roof. The building is two storeys high with attics and has modern gabled dormers. There are two windows on the front, with four-light stone ovolo mullions on the first floor and shop windows on the ground floor. To the left of the centre, there is a moulded segment-headed doorway, with the bookshop entrance to the right of centre. A moulded stone cornice is angled to fit a very fine sundial inscribed "WSS" and dated 1690. At the rear, there is a gabled stair turret with an oculus. Inside, the front conceals a partial timber frame on the first floor, and there is a good late 17th-century fireplace on the ground floor of the Green Dragon.
