Description
Elm Tree Cottage and The Stables are two attached houses dating from the mid to late 17th century, with extensive alterations and additions made in the mid to late 19th century. The buildings are constructed of random thin-bedded rubble limestone, with rubble and mixed rebuilt chimneys, and feature a stone slate roof. The structure is two stories high with an attic, and the 19th-century section is also two stories. The east front has an L-plan layout with scattered windows, including two- and three-light recessed cavetto mullioned casements that have hoodmoulds. There is a 19th-century segmental arched doorway with a plank door, and a segmental arched casement to the left. The front also includes two gabled roof dormers. On the north side, there is 19th-century mullioned fenestration on the gable end of the main range, and similar windows on the rear wing, with upper floor casements that have eaves-level hipped roofs. The interior has not been inspected, but part of the rear has been converted from stables.
