Description
This is a barn located in Clapton-on-the-Hill, built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring large dressed quoins. The roof is made of stone slate and concrete tiles. The barn has a rectangular main body with a projecting porch on the east side. There is a lean-to at the gable end, which is not of special interest. The barn has a double-width segmental-headed entrance that is off-centre to the left, facing the farmhouse. The projecting porch has double doors on the opposite side, and there is a through passage at the gable end. The stable at the gable end has a lower roofline and includes a segmental-headed doorway on the ground floor and a pitching door. There is also a four-pane casement within a blocked opening to the right. Inside, the barn features four bays with simple tie beam trusses.
