Description

Home Farmhouse, dating from circa 1700, is a notable example of its period. The house is two storeys with attics, constructed of rubble with ashlar quoins. It has a hipped Cotswold stone roof and end chimneys with moulded capping, incorporating two hipped dormers. It is a three-bay house, with a three-light configuration to the first floor and a three-two-three light arrangement to the ground floor. A central doorcase features a stepped string and an elliptical head with imposts at string level, incorporating a 19th-century door and overlight.

Inside, there is a contemporary staircase, fireplace, and simple oak panelling. A one-storey extension to the right includes an ashlar chimney and two three-light mullion windows. The rear of the house features a back door with a basket arch and imposts, along with a lean-to supported by rectangular stone piers. The interior is distinguished by an open well staircase in the centre of the house; the lower flight has been repositioned. The staircase features heavy barley-sugar balusters, a wide handrail, and a single wide string. A plank and muntin partition is present on the first floor, along with a bolection doorcase. A first-floor room to the north boasts a good-quality bolection fireplace constructed of stone.
