Description
This is a house located at 1 Coxwell Street in Cirencester, dated 1658. It is built from coursed limestone rubble and has a stone slate roof, with a 19th-century brick stack on the right end. The house has one gable at the front and features two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a one-window range.
On the first floor, there is a three-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullion window with wooden casements, which is set beneath a hood-mould. Above this, in the gable, is a similar two-light window also under a hood-mould. The ground floor originally had a three-light stone-mullion window under a hood-mould, but the mullions have been removed and replaced with a three-light wooden window.
To the left of the front is a moulded stone doorcase featuring a Tudor-arched head, with the initials "RM" and the date "1658" displayed in the spandrels, along with a moulded cornice. The door itself is a 20th-century glazed door. There is a blocked opening to the cellar, which is covered by a wooden lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
