Description
The Bishop monument is a chest tomb located about 4 meters south of the south door of the Church of St. Mary in Temple Guiting. It commemorates Reverend Charles Bishop, the parish minister who died in 1780. The tomb is made of sandstone and features a square shape with a moulded plinth. There are inscriptions on all four sides, although those on the south and east sides have become illegible over time. The north side contains a crude inscription listing the names of 11 individuals with dates ranging from 1728 to the early 19th century. The tomb is topped with a pyramidal capping stone.
