Description
The Stratton Monument is a chest tomb located about 4 metres south-west of the south-west tower buttress in the churchyard of the Church of the Holy Rood in Ampney Crucis. It commemorates Sarah Stratton, who died in 1803, making it the earliest decipherable tombstone in the area. The monument is made of limestone and features a stepped tent top with roll moulding along the top. It has a moulded plinth and capping on a raised base, with plain recessed side and end panels, and small flanking strips on the side panels.
