Description

The Payne Memorial is a chest tomb located about 1 metre north of the cross in the churchyard of the Church of St. Kenelm in Sapperton. The earliest decipherable inscription dates back to 1655 and is in Latin, found on the north side of the tomb. It is made of limestone and features a very plain flat top design with chamfered capping. The base is not visible, and the south side was noted to be collapsing at the time of the survey in September 1984.
