Description

Matthews Monument is a chest tomb located about 18 meters north-east of the north vestry in the churchyard of the Church of St. Lawrence. It commemorates Mary Sophia Matthews, who died in 1841. The monument is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth and capping on the base, along with a plain frieze and a stepped tent top. The end panels are plain, while the side panels are slightly fielded and have flanking fluted strips.
