Description

Willowbrook is a detached house located in Lower Turkdean, dating from the late 17th century to the mid-18th century, with restorations and extensions made in the Cotswold style during the 20th century. The main structure is rectangular with a single-storey 20th-century extension at the left gable end and two additional 20th-century extensions at right angles to the rear. The main body has two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by two 20th-century two-light roof dormers. The facade features four windows, which are lit by 3 and 4-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements, likely replaced in the 20th century. An off-centre left 20th-century plank door is set within a flat-chamfered 'Tudor'-arched surround. Above the door, there is a small two-light window with trefoil-headed lights and diamond-leaded panes. Other windows on the facade have rectangular leaded panes.

To the left, there is a single-bay extension with one and a half storeys, lit by a 2-light 20th-century stone-mullioned casement. A 20th-century plank door is located within a 'Tudor'-arched surround at the left gable end. To the right of the door, there is a four-light stone-mullioned casement featuring a king mullion and a stopped hood. The Cotswold style extensions at the rear include 20th-century stone-mullioned casements, one of which is a 3-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with round-headed lights and carved spandrels. The main body has gable end stacks with moulded cappings. Inside, there are two open fireplaces with bressumer beams.
