Description

This is a village pump or conduit head, installed in 1894 by the Calcutts of Avening Park. Made of cast iron, it features a small fluted column with a spout on the front and a domed top with a finial. This pump is one of seven similar pumps in the village of Avening and was supplied water from a large reservoir located at the west end of the village. It serves as an interesting example of Victorian water supply provided by an estate for its tenants.
