Description
Cotswold Cottage is a semi-detached cottage located in Cowley, Birdlip Village, dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed from small blocks of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring dressed stone quoins and a stone slate roof with an ashlar stack. The main body of the cottage is rectangular, with an extension at right angles to the rear and is 1½ storeys high.
The gablet facing the road has a three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement window with a stopped hood on the ground floor, and a similar window in the gablet above. To the left of the ground floor window, there is a blocked doorway. The left gable end features two 20th-century two-light steel casements with leaded panes. Additionally, there is a 20th-century gabled stone-built porch to the left of the ground floor window. The rear extension includes a three-light steel casement and a hipped two-light roof dormer. The cottage has a single axial stack with a moulded capping. The interior has not been inspected.
