Description

These gatepiers, located approximately 10 meters south of Ablington House, date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are made of ashlar limestone and feature plain square piers with a moulded plinth and chamfered caps. Each pier is topped with a carved stone rampant lion finial, which clasps a brass rod that is said to have originated from the Houses of Parliament. The gatepiers are complemented by wrought iron gates from the late 19th or early 20th century. They are positioned on the same axis as the formal garden across the road from Ablington House.
