Description

The Northleach War Memorial is a First World War memorial designed by the architects Healing and Overbury from Cheltenham. It was unveiled on 3 June 1922 and underwent alterations after the Second World War and in the mid-20th century.

The memorial is made of local limestone and features metal plaques. It takes the form of a Latin cross atop a tapering octagonal shaft, which is set on a square foot and stands on a square-section plinth with moulded edges. The entire structure is elevated on a three-stepped octagonal platform. Inscriptions are found on metal plaques affixed to all four sides of the memorial, which read: IN MEMORIAM / 1914 - 1918 / 1939 - 1945 / ET ALIORUM; 1914 - 1918 / (NAMES) and below: 1950 MALAYA / (NAME); 1914 - 1918 / (NAMES); 1939 - 1945 / (NAMES).
