Description
This is a large chest tomb from the mid to late 18th century, located about 1 meter south of the pair of Hall Monuments in the churchyard of the Church of St. Lawrence in Lechlade. It is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth and capping on a tall two-step base, which was originally enclosed by a stone perimeter plinth. The corners of the tomb are indented, while the west and south sides are completely plain. The east end has a recessed moulded roundel with a floral relief surrounded by a decorative border. The south side displays a horizontal moulded oval panel with carved cherubs and foliage, along with a relief frieze that includes an urn and foliage, although the inscriptions are nearly obliterated. The tomb is topped with a large stepped cap in two sections, featuring an urn finial on a square base.
