Description

Copse Hill Court is a former stable building that was converted into a house around 1872 for railway magnate H A Brassey, possibly designed by architect C F Hayward. The building features rough-faced rubble and imitation Cotswold stone roofs, arranged in a hollow square plan. The south front includes a central archway topped with a shaped gable that holds an armorial cartouche, along with wooden gates that have diagonal boarding. To the right, there is one storey and an attic with two gabled bays and Caernarvon-arch windows, while the left side has a single storey three-bay wing. The layout creates an irregular courtyard. The building underwent alterations in the 1970s following a fire.
