Description

The Cherington/Timpany Monument is a pedestal tomb located about 8 meters east-north-east of the cross in the churchyard of the Church of the Holy Rood. It commemorates Sarah Timpany, who died in 1771, and Elizabeth Cherington, who died in 1789. The monument is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth and capping. It has indented corners and fielded side and end panels. The square cap has a moulded upper edge that rises to a smaller chamfered section with a moulded top.
