Description

Gainsborough House, built around 1830-1840, consists of two houses that are now used as offices, along with attached area railings. The building features stucco over brick with a concealed roof, a gault brick party-wall stack, and iron railings. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a basement. The façade includes six first-floor windows and a two-storey, one-window range to the left. All windows are 6/6 sashes set in plain reveals with sills. The cornice has been renewed, and there is a coped blocking course. The central entrances have roll-edged steps leading to renewed six-panel doors with divided overlights. The left return has been much renewed in a similar style. The interior has not been inspected. The area railings feature arrowhead designs with anthemions on the stanchions.
