Description
A pair of lamp posts located to the south-east of The Queen's Hotel on the Promenade, dating from around 1838, are probably designed by RW Jearrard to flank the stable entrance of the hotel. These lamp standards are made of stone or Coade-stone and are painted. They feature triangular plinths with panelled triangular bases adorned with crowns, supported on claws. The tall stems are decorated with two rows of acanthus fronds and acanthus necking. The original gas holders on top have been converted to electricity.
